Happy Monday Everyone. It was a beautiful weekend with plenty of sun and warm temperatures. We are excited to share the great news that Serena has signed her first ‘non-exclusive’ modeling contract with a very reputable agency in New York. We were approached by a handful of agencies, it was not easy picking one, there were too many things to think about such as the reputation of the agency, work demands, travel (since we live in DC) and the impact of all this on Serena’s personality and growth but after talking to the agent and understanding that it will really be our decision when and what jobs we accept – we said yes. Needles to say Serena is super excited and keeps on asking when she will be on TV with Dora & Sofia! I do want to caution all the parents out there to do there homework before even applying for their kids to become a model. There are so many scammers out there with wonderful websites. I think all parents know that any time an agency is asking you for money that’s a big sign that it could be a scam but there are other that state they don’t charge anything and then send you an e-mail stating your child has been selected and so they need money for the portraits and or other things.
I didn’t even realize how much work will go into her becoming a lil-model. We had to apply for her NY child-model work permit and submit paperwork like school approvals, doctors approval and open a coogan/utma bank account for her, we are still not finished with all the paperwork. Her first audition will be scheduled some time in late February or early March and I will keep you all posted on how things go.
