Yes I admit “I am a geek”. If being a geek means to not care what people think about your looks and being interested in politics, philosophy, life or just technical things then I am all those things, maybe I should call myself a super geek! I decided to lookup the definition of geek and this is what I found ‘an unfashionable or socially inept person” so ladies you know I beg to differ with this definition. I do not understand why society has created these buckets/categories that we all are striving to fit in to. I can be a fashionista or a geek. Either I am pretty or ugly but why can’t I be both? I am definitely both; at my day job I am a technical analyst so all day I do “geeky things”, there are days when I have my 4-inch heels with a fitted dress and then there are days when my hair is a little greasy and I have flip flops on with no makeup! In the evenings some times you might find me strolling in the mall all “prettied up” and other times I have gone to the mall in my PJ’s with a long sweater and Uggs.
I think a lot of times as women we are more worried about the opinions of other women then men. I do not think even half the women who are attending a wedding or a party are worried about another man’s opinion of the they look but are mostly worried about what would other women think of their outfit and so on. While there are plenty of occasions where I feel the same way I have to say that I always remember that I am beautiful inside because you have to love yourself before someone else can. So no matter what the situation maybe believe in yourself and remember we all are unique and beautiful in our own way. There is nothing wrong with combining the two as well. So todays look is a reflection of how I am a geeky fashionista as well!
